Opps Computer Not Working So What Do You Do!

Today was suppose to be my second
Linky Party for Use It Or Lose It.

Post what you've been doing with what
you already have, from your stash
or stuff around the house.
Remember you can add to it with some purchased items if needed, so that
you can finish your project.

But my computer is out of commission
because I happened to be drinking
coffee and oops I tipped the cup
over and it, yup, spilled over
on to the key board and now my
computer is not working.

So here I am using another lap top.
I'm limited to what I can do
at the moment.  So save your projects
or keep working on new ones and we will start up again on April 1, 2015. No
April Fools here.
 Thank you all.

From this accident I've been thinking.
What can we do so that we can
continue to work on our blogs
when accidents happen. Pull out your
hair, hmmm, no! Borrow one from
a friend, or family member.
I guess you can go to the library
and use their computer but I don't know
how safe that would be. You can use
your Smart phone, keep your
blogs simple. Otherwise,
you keep writing using paper and pen.
When you get your computer back,
your ready to blog.
One, we really need to backup
our computers. Not just in the
cloud but with a disk so that
we can transfer important
items back on to our
computers once its up and
running. You can use an internal
drive. I know you've heard
it a thousand times, but its so true.

You just never believe it's going
to happen to you and when it does
your world seems to fall apart and
you get in a state of panic.
Unless you have another computer
with all the information you have
on your main computer, I hate
to say it, but you're screwed.

Once I get my computer back and
running or purchase a new one,
I hope not, although it would be great,
I will be backing it all up.
Images are priceless and you can't
get them back once their gone
unless you've share them with
others.  Images I use continually on my
blog will be placed on a disk.
That way I can pop that disk
in any computer and download on
to my blog.

Other programs back up your material
for you, but make sure it's up
to date before you log out!

Another idea, that comes to mind
is to work on having a few extra
blogs ready to go in the event
this happens or life takes some
 unexpected turns. Have those extra
blogs in draft mode. That way you have
no hiccups or few weeks out
 without blogging, which I miss!!
It's all so sad.

So what do you do in the mean
time. Remember you can borrow a
computer and keep blogging with
or with out photos.
Keep moving forward,
inchworming your
way through it.

If any of you have had this happen,
please leave me a comment and
share your experience
and your solutions.

I can do all this through Him who gives me strength.
Philippians 4:13

Valentine Quilt!

Here's my Valentine Quilt!

  I choose three fabrics. The
heart fabric which is the main
top fabric, the dark gray border
fabric, the binding and backing
were made with the same fabric.

Here you see it sandwiched together.

I top stitched between the hearts.

I totally machine quilted the
entire quilt.
No hand stitching the
binding.  In fact, I just
trimmed the backing a
few inches larger then the
top and rolled the edge
around to the front to
finish it off.

Here's the back view!

This is my commandment that you
love one another
as I have loved you.

Pineapple Upside Down Cake Recipe- Yummy!!!

I'd like to share one of my

favorite recipes.  So yummy

to my tummy!!!

#Pineapple Upside Down Cake #Recipe

              Ingredients:

         1/4 cup butter
         3/4 cup packed sugar
1  (20 oz) can sliced pineapple,
            drained
         Maraschino Cherries, drained

          1-1/3 cup flour
          1 cup sugar
          1/3 cup butter
          3/4 cup milk
          1-1/2 teaspoons baking powder
          1/2 teaspoons salt
          1 egg

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Melt butter in an iron skillet. Take your brown sugar and sprinkle it over the butter.  Arrange pineapple slices on top of the butter and sugar mixture.  Place the maraschino
cherries in the center of slices. Add extra cherries around pineapple slices.  I do!

In a large bowl add remaining ingredients and beat well. Pour batter over pineapple mixture.
Bake for 35-45 minutes.  Check with a tooth pick to see if it comes out clean.  Remove from oven. Allow to cold for 10 minutes.  Place your dish over skillet and flip onto dish. Be careful, it will be hot.

Hope your decluttering is going well.  I'm done with my living room area.  Moving on to the Guest Room!!  Pictures to follow!   Grab my button.

Dry Your Own Chives

How many of you love chives?
I know I do!  They are low
in calories and they give food
a hint of sweet onion flavor.
They are great on baked potatoes,
 mashed potatoes, soups,
salads and much more.  I do
prefer them fresh but when
I can't use them fresh, they are
great dry.

As I cleaned a small area in
the garden I noticed some
 chive plants that needed to
be trimed.  I took my kitchen shears
and cut down the plants
to 1-2 inches.  I decided
I was going to dry them.

Any of you who always wanted
to dry your own chives,
here is now I did it.

FOOD DEHYDRATOR
Take your washed chives and
gently dry them. Remember to remove
any dead or unhealty ones. Trim
them about 1/4" with shears or a knife.

Spread the cut chives evenly on the trays
of your food dehydrator. Dry them at
 a temperator no more
than 100 degrees for a couple hours.
It may be longer or take a shorter time,
so please check them after the first
hour and 30 minutes thereafter.

Once dry, allow them to
cool for 15 minutes.
 Remove chives from
trays.

Place them on paper towels or
some wax paper. Then place them
in containers.  They are ready to use.

There are other methods of drying chives.

HANG
Most people will bunch them up,
tie them and insert them in a paper
bag and hang them to dry.
Once dry, crumble and
place in a container.  I find
 this method a little messy
once they dry.

OVEN
You can place them in an
oven on a cookie sheet or
baking dish.  Dry them whole
or slice them about 1/8"
 at the lowest oven setting
for a few hours.  Don't forget
to wash and dry before you
place them in the
oven to dry.

MICROWAVE
I've heard of drying chives in
the microwave, but I've
 never used this method.

How do you dry your chives?

Use It Or Lose It - Declutter and Get Organized

My husband had to work today, boohoo!
But it does give me a day to blog,
organize and plan my first month of
the year!  A really good thing.

I wrote a post a few month back
My motto for the year is to continue
organizing one room at a time and
to save money(who doesn't want to save)
by using what I have. I've been a crafter,
sewer, baker, and quilter for many years.
Therefore, I have many things in
my kitchen cabinets, in my fabric
and crafting stash that may not be
of use to me any more.
But, I also have many things that I
know I can put into good use in 2015.
Having more isn't alway best, but
it can help me to
save and spend a little on things I need
to finish up a project.

Furthermore, its time to declutter and
reorganize areas of my life, areas in
my home, and become more productive
 with my time. Decluttering
has always been a challenge for
me. As I tend to get rid of
stuff at a slow pace.  I have to
realize that giving things away
will benefit others, selling a
few things will put money in my pocket,
 and tossing those unuseful
items will either allow me to
 replace it with something new
or simply free up some
needed space.

I challenge all of you to
grab my button,
Use It Or Lose!!!
Free yourself from clutter.
  Let's create!

inchworming

I know we've heard that saying
before regarding our weight. This
is some what different.  Of course,
you can make a recipe with items in
your kitchen.
Let's be creative and (Use It)
use what we have and only
purchase items we need to finish
up our projects.

It's been a desire of mine to make
it a normal thing for me to do.
I thought, I can't be the only one
with that desire.  I hope you all
will join me on this new venture,
Use It Or Lose It!

I hope to have a linky button so that
we can link up those fabulous
Use It Or Lose It projects/items
we've decided to keep, give away or
toss.  My first linky party will be
February 1, 2015 and hopefully
continue on the first of every month!

But in January, I will start
to organize my
Living Room/Dining Room area
(it's one room) at a time!
Come join the party!!!

Please leave me a comment
if you're interested!!
I need all your support and help
to launch this new
slogan! Use It Or Lose It!!
