Fabrics from my stash!!!  

I decided to make these quilt blocks 

from fabric I already had. I ended up making four blocks of each color, green, purple and pink, ending up with 12 blocks.  Just got the blocks done. Yeah!!!!

This block is a combination

of an eight pointed star

and four block squares

  

I haven't had time to sew the

 blocks together.  Once I do, I will

 share my quilt with you!!

I'm excited to see them put together.

Never To Late - Dream and Push Forward

When I first starting blogging, 

my first post was titled, 

"Never to Late!"

I still believe that today!  

Whether you are a year or four 

years older when you first 

dreamed of starting a blog,  

thought about learning how 

to paint, 

maybe, it's running 

a marathon or just 

learning to sew!  Start  

your dream, your new venture,

 your hearts desire and 

push forward.

Yes, our bodies are getting older

 and you may not be able 

to finish the race running

 but, you and me both can 

still walk toward the 

finish line.  

This list of goals and desires

 would be part of your bucket 

list.  You may call it what 

ever moves you towards 

those ventures you dream of 

doing and hope to accomplish.  

For me, I had already started 

writing, but I allowed fear 

to enter in.  That fear only put a 

halt to my writing!  

Then one day I met 

a sweet lady, in a sewing class. 
 We had never 

met before until that day.  

She met up with me a few weeks

 later and gave me some words 

of wisdom and words of encouragement.

 Those words of encouragement

 and the sweet voice of my 

son saying, "Just keep

 writing, Mom," really made 

the fear subside.  

Even now I have others 
telling me to keep writing!

I know you have those that
believe in you!  

So, if others believe you can, 

why is it so hard for us to 

take that belief and transform 

it into some thing real? 

Many of us think

 we can't but we really can!!!!

Don't forget to be an
encouragement to others
as well.  

Most of all, don't listen to those

that turn their nose on you!

They are the rocks that  

get in your path and try

to get you to stumble and fall.

They want your dreams to 

wither away. 

   

Remember you can do it! You have 

it in you! Keep your dreams 

alive by taking baby steps

 or big giant leaps. 

It's Never To Late to live

 out your dreams and make 

them reality! 

Just keep at it!

Log Cabin Table Top Quilt

I've been busy quilting away on this log cabin quilt.  It's for a gift for my husband's Aunt and Uncle.

The finished quilt measures

25-1/2" x 25-1/2"

I used thirteen different fabrics

from my stash to complete this quilt. 

 The center square is a

barn red color fabric, which you 

won't see on the strips below, 

but you will see the 

red square on the examples 

following the strips.  Each strip

was cut 1-3/4" wide by the

length of fabric.  Depending on

the length of your fabric you 

may have to cut two or three

strips of some fabrics.

I find it helpful to lay out the strips in

the order you will be sewing them. 

Center block- red

2 light color fabrics

2 darker color fabrics

2 light color fabrics

2 darker color fabrics

Repeat with 2 light and then 2 dark

fabrics if you desire your block

to be larger.

I started with a 1-3/4" 

square.  Cut one square

for each block you plan on making.

I have nine log cabin blocks, so I cut

 nine red squares.

I took the next strip and placed

my red squares right sides

together and sewed a quarter inch  

seam allowance.

Trim to 1-3/4" square and press 

open. Add the next 1-3/4" strip.

Working counter-clockwise around the

center square, continue adding strips

Finished block 5-1/2" square.

Arrange your blocks to your 

liking and sew blocks

together. Your block should

measure 15-1/4" x 15-1/4".

I added two borders. Measure 

your quilt to get the proper size

of your quilt. The first

border (dark green) I cut

strips 1-3/4" wide by the length

of the fabric and attached

them to the top and then

to the bottom.  Next you will

 add the side border. 

My next border I cut 5-1/2" wide 

strips by the length of the 

fabric, and sewed them just like 

the first border. 

Sandwich your quilt together, backing,

batting and top.  Safety pin

or baste quilt to prepare

it for top stitching.  Remove

any safety pins you come

close to while top stitching.

Here you see me top stitching 

the quilt. Remove safety pins

as you top stitch.

Add your binding. Make a label for 

your quilt and it's ready to go.

Farm Girl Vintage First Six Blocks

Last month I  recently signed 

up for the Block of the Month 

through my local quilt shop,  Stars 

and Scraps.  I was so excited upon 

receiving my first months pack 

(the book, and a nice variety of 

fabrics to make six blocks.

Fourth Of July Pledge Allegiance #Quilt

I just love my "I Pledge Allegiance 

to the flag," #quilt!

Happy Fourth of July!!!  Here's 

another simple quilt for you 

to make.  I have no pattern but

 if you own an embroidery machine,

 you can literally make this 

quilt in one or two days.  

Really, it's that simple.

Before you embroidery you need

 to set up your machine

and program the words into 

your machine.  Figure out

what font you'd like to use.

Decide the size you'd like

 your center piece to be. 

My finished  piece is 

13" x 11" once sewn.  

Then I looked through my stash 

and picked these two fabrics for

my borders and backing.

I used some decorative stitches from 

my machine. You know the ones

we tend to never use.  I did two rows 

of stars above and below the

words.  Then I sewed individual 

stars randomly on the quilt top.  

Added some yellow stars.

Put it all together and here you go!

I was thinking about tea dying

 my quilt to make it feel old.
